RRDSB Supports 2SLGBTQIA Students & Gender IdentityIn light of the protests that took place across our country yesterday, the Rainy River District School Board wants to affirm that we stand with our trans, Two-Spirit and non-binary students, staff, and families. The Rainy River District School Board is committed to upholding the human rights of all those we serve - harassment, discrimination, and hate have no place in our schools.

Our schools work every day to promote positive relationships with all families as partners in their children’s learning. However, we also know that some students do not have access to supports and spaces where their identities are affirmed. This may lead to an increased risk of bullying, acts of self-harm, and adverse impacts to students’ mental health and well-being. That is why we strive to provide healthy and affirming teaching, learning, and working environments, with gender affirming practices such as honoring a person’s chosen name and/or pronouns. We welcome all students as they are and focus on supporting their achievement and well-being, as outlined throughout the Ontario curriculum and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
